Attorney General’s Office Launches A Revamped MVLAW Website

The Attorney General’s Office introduces the new MVLAW website. The website was launched at a special launching ceremony held at the Attorney General’s Office yesterday.

The Attorney General’s Office stated that the goal of this project is to “transform public accessibility to laws of the Maldives, and assist legal practitioners in improving the efficiency of their legal research”. The project is a collaborative effort in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Maldives. The new website was designed and developed by a local company named Javaabu Pvt Ltd.

The website provides consolidated laws including all enacted amendments. The website also has keyword search capabilities, which allow users to quickly find certain laws and regulations. The new website also offers users the option to bookmark legislative provisions for convenient citation, follow amendments to laws, and save legislation for offline reference. One of the most notable features of the newly developed website is the text-to-speech feature in Dhivehi, as per The Attorney General’s Office, a first in the Maldives.

While the newly developed website is accessible on all mobile devices, The Attorney General’s Office informs that the MVLAW mobile application will be available to all users in the coming week.
