Thirty New Lawyers Join the Maldivian Bar

Thirty aspiring lawyers were officially welcomed into the legal profession at a ceremony held on February 21st, 2024. This event marked the first ceremony of the year for admitting new lawyers to the Bar.

High Court Judge Mohamed Shaneez administered the oath to the new lawyers, officially marking their entry into the legal profession. Following the oath-taking ceremony, Uza Mizna Ahmed, the Vice President of the Bar Council, presented practicing licenses to the new entrants.

Uza Mizna Ahmed offered valuable advice to the new lawyers, emphasizing the significance of professionalism, ethical conduct, fairness, justice, responsibility, and independence in upholding the rule of law throughout their legal careers.

Uza Mizna Ahmed also highlighted the work of the Bar Council’s President, the late Uz Ahmed Wisham, in improving the legal fraternity, raising the standards of the Bar, and striving for its global recognition. Additionally, she expressed gratitude to government institutions, courts, law firms and legal practices, and the Bar Council’s international partners for their continuous support in strengthening the Maldivian legal system.
