Judicial Service Commission Appoints Judges to Superior Courts and High Court

The Judicial Service Commission appoints judges to Superior Courts and High Court on 13 March 2023.

High Court

Justice Ahmed Shakeel
Justice Ahmed Shakeel, was first appointed as a judge on 2003.
During the 19 years of his service, Justice Shakeel served as AA. Ukulhas Magistrate, Juvenile Court Judge, Family Court Judge and Criminal Court Judge.
Prior to his appointment to the High Court, Justice Shakeel was serving as the Chief Judge of the Criminal Court.
Justice Ahmed Shakeel holds a Bachelor of Shariah and Master of Shariah from Villa College

With the appointment of Justice Ahmed Shakeel to High Court, Judge Adam Mohamed will be serving as Acting Chief Judge of the Criminal Court.

Judge Ibrahim Ihsaan
Since 2016 Judge Ibrahim Ihsaan worked as a legal officer at GA.VIlingili Magistrate Court. On 29 October 2018 he was appointed as a magistrate and was the Chief Magistrate of GA. Judicial Sector till his appointment to the Criminal Court.
Judge Ibrahim Ihsaan holds a Bachelors of Law (Hons) from Maldives National University.

With the appointment of Judge Ibrahim Ihsaan to Civil Court, Magistrate Azeem Hassan from GA.Villinigili Magistrate Court will be serving Acting-Chief Magistrate of GA. Judicial Sector

Judge Ibrahim Zihunee
Judge Ibrahim Zihunee worked as a legal officer at MWSC (Malé Water and Sewerage Company) since 2013 February and as a legal officer at Drug Court since 2014. Judge Ibrahim Zihunee worked as a public prosecutor since January 2016 till he was appointed as a Criminal Court Judge.
Ibrahim Zihunee holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sharia and Law from Al-Azhar University, Egypt.

Judge Faisal Adam
Judge Faisal Adam worked as legal officer in the Department of Judicial Administration from October 2016 to February 2020. Until his appointment to the Civil Court, Judge Faisal Adam has been working as an Assistant Registrar in the Supreme Court of Maldives.
Faisal Adam holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law and a Master of Laws from the Islamic University of the Maldives.
